How it turned out
We projected about 2.5 goals and the game finished with 3. Both teams scored. We made Riga to win 41%, and it landed.
What we said beforehand
Riga head into this UEFA Conference League tie as the clear favorite on paper. The goal expectations put them at 1.4 each, while KI Klaksvik sit at 1.1. That gap suggests Riga should have the edge, but the numbers also point to a modest total of about two and a half goals, so we can expect a fairly tight game rather than a goal-fest.
Looking at recent form, Riga have struggled, losing four of their last five league matches and winning only once. KI Klaksvik have been a little steadier, with two wins, a draw and two defeats in the same span. The contrast in recent results hints that the away side could be the more confident team coming into the match, even though the overall numbers still favor Riga.
We pick Riga to win. Our reasoning is simple: the goal expectations give them a slight advantage and we see about a 43 % chance they will finish on top. The price of 1.44 is shorter than what we think the game is worth, making it a decent offer for a result we feel comfortable backing. It is a clean choice compared with looking for a higher price elsewhere.
For our view to be wrong, KI Klaksvik would need to turn their modest recent form into a strong performance and keep Riga from scoring. If the game opens up and more than three goals are hit, Riga could also slip. We hold our pick with moderate confidence – we like it, but we know the margin is not huge.
